OUR CORE BELIEFS
God
Through unmerited love, the eternal and triune God meets each of us along life`s journey and invites us into a life-defining, transforming and unending relationship, made possible through the saving work of Jesus Christ and by the sustaining power of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible
Holy Scripture tells the story of God`s acts of love and neverending desire for relationship with all humankind. The Bible was written and handed down by divinely inspired people and provides direction for life as we discover our own stories in God`s story.
Sin
Sin is the state of separation from God. Without repentance, sin results in destructive attitudes, characteristics and behaviors.
Salvation
Through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, God forgives our sin. Our response is to receive the gift of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. There is nothing anyone can do to earn God`s salvation. Salvation includes our ongoing journey of faith in relationship with God, the church and the world.
The Sacraments
The act of baptism marks a person as a beloved child of God and a follower of Jesus. The observance of communion connects us to God`s loving presence through Jesus as he invites and welcomes people of all ages to his table of grace and forgiveness.
The Church
The Body of Christ is the primary scriptural image of the Church. The Church is both local and universal and provides authentic community for spiritual growth and the worship of God so that we might love, learn, heal and serve others in Jesus` name. The Church exists to be the visible sign of God`s love in the world. Through the Church, God calls people to self-sacrificial love and servanthood, expressed through acts of mercy, justice and reconciliation.
Prayer
Prayer is the practice of communicating with and listening to God in spirit, mind and body. This includes praise, confession, direction, healing, intercession, personal petition and silence. We practice prayer in all its forms both as individuals and together as the Body of Christ.
