Hispanic Ministries

Hispanics in Loudoun County and Northern Virginia are welcome to join our Spanish community of faith.

Worship with us

each Saturday at 6:30 pm

OUR MISSION

To introduce people to Jesus, grow in our relationship with him and go change the world one person, one family and one community at a time.

OUR VISION

The new congregation wants to grow and become a strong ministry that will develop teams to serve Hispanic needs of the area. Despite the hundreds of Hispanics living in Loudoun County and Northern Virginia, few if any Spanish worship opportunities exist. The congregation is the only Hispanic Methodist ministry in Ashburn, Va., and one of very few Spanish communities of faith in Northern Virginia and the western reaches of the DC area and Northern Virginia, too. Hispanics often may feel lonely and isolated in a land where they may have a few friends, and feel a longing for spiritual connection – and yet have no options for participating with others in Spanish language worship.

Possibilities include providing a literacy program, starting home groups called Circles of CARE for people’s individual spiritual growth, training in computer labs and career guidance.

OUR STORY

A group of six Hispanic adults originally felt called to meet and worship together in January 2005 as a result of friendships forged through Crossroads’ English as a Second Language (ESL) ministry. Once the church started a mission of distributing food and clothing to the county’s less fortunate, the group got involved with Grace Ministry, too. One part of the monthly distribution was a short devotional time originally requested by the guests. Flor Norris led that time of spiritual reflection. From that starting point, the Crossroads Hispanic Ministry was born.

Crossroads Hispanic Ministry is part of the Arlington District of the United Methodist Church. The fledgling group has been recognized for excellence in ministry in serving the Hispanic community.

OUR LEADERSHIP

The ministry team's leader is Flor Norris. Flor is an active member of Crossorads who has begun the process of ordination in Flor Norristhe United Methodist Church. She is studying theology and administrative and pastoral skills. “My call to this ministry stems from my desire to serve God’s Hispanic community in the area – not just Loudoun County, but as far away as Herndon and Falls Church,” Flor says.
