Treasure PACT (Parents And Children Together) lets families have a hands-on part in the faith formation of their children through a partnership between parents and the church. Each Sunday, our children's servants introduce to your children the same life-transforming scripture and lesson received by the entire congregation in worship time, as well as age-appropriate ways to get to know Jesus and songs and activities that the kids love. Where they leave off, parents come in -- reinforcing what the kids have learned through the day-to-day love and guidance in their homes.
SUNDAY EVENTS
9 and 11 am weekly (except 1st Sunday monthly when 1st through 5th graders worship with their parents):
- Little Treasures Nursery Infants and toddlers play and 2-year-olds hear a Bible story, too, all in a safe environment provided by nurturing childcare assistants
- Treasure Garden Preschool and 1st graders participate in a large group for developmental worship and children's choir before heading to classrooms for age-appropriate faith discussions, crafts, activities and snacks
- Treasure Quest 2nd through 5th graders enjoy large group worship with sing-along songs and a creative biblical lessons, followed by discussion and activities that engage all aspects of learning methods
1st SUNDAY FAMILY WORSHIP
Most families have lost sight of the good gained for children as they worship with Mom and Dad. 1st Sundays is a step toward reclaiming that good, and helping families develop a "together" spiritual life. Activity booklets are prepared as a help for the kids, and we don't mind wiggles! Come enjoy this time, take communion as a family and know that you as a parent are sharing and modeling faith.
Childcare for children younger than kindergarten age is still provided on 1st Family Sundays.
FAMILY SPIRITUAL AIDS
Foundational Christian beliefs and practices learned on Sundays are re-enforced with the help of take-home devotional and conversation aids.
The Family Treasure Guide goes home with each child and can be stored in a specially provided treasure chest. The weekly guide suggests Bible readings, discussion questions, a memory verse, further learning segments and parenting tips for encouraging a child's faith growth. [See SAMPLE]
Periodic marriage and parenting classes are also offered.
JOURNEY EVENTS
Crossroads celebrates transition stages in your child's life in a way that will strengthen the partnership between parents and children and the faith journey offered by the church:
- Family Baptism Class An 8-week class offered 3 times each year that teaches the meaning and purpose of baptism and helps parents understand the importance of guiding their children in faith.
- 3rd Grade Bible Adventure Gifts of new Bibles are presented to 3rd graders each fall. The special event is followed by a family lunch and activity, and several weeks of introduction to the Bible for young readers.
- 5th Grade Crossover Each summer, kids transitioning from elementary school to middle school participate in a "challenge course" through which kids learn the importance of faith community to give them strength for future challenges in life. This is also an introduction to Crossroads' Youth Ministry.
PARTICIPATION BY PARENTS
Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in our Children's Ministry in order to assure a quality ministry, safe care for our children and the modeling of community and service.
